OSI is Awarded a SCADA System Contract by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a major contract by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) of Boston, Massachusetts to be the supplier of its next-generation Power SCADA System technology. MBTA will employ OSI's open monarch™ architecture to manage power distribution for its transit line operations.

The MBTA project signifies OSI's entry into the transportation market and reflects the flexibility and adaptability of OSI's monarch SCADA platform.

MBTA has chosen OSI's technology for its modern, modular, secure and open system design characteristics, which would easily facilitate MBTA's growth requirements and would result in lower maintenance costs. OSI's system will replace the current legacy Valmet/Telvent SCADA system.

"The MBTA project is of high strategic importance to us, deploying our monarch technology outside the traditional Electric Utility market. The Mass Transit market represents an important area to our company, as we continually seek to expand our involvement in "Green energy initiatives" and in areas with a positive impact on the environment. We welcome MBTA to our user base and we look forward to a very successful project," said Bahman Hoveida, President and CEO of OSI.

The proposed system is based on OSI's monarch distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Web-based Graphical User Interface, Historical Information System/Archiving, Calculation Subsystem, Trending, Historical Recording System, Network Connectivity Analysis and a comprehensive Report Management System.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (www.mbta.com) operates four transit lines, thirteen commuter rail lines, five boat routes and 170 routes serving 175 cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts in an area of approximately 3,250 square miles. MBTA serves over 1.1 million riders each day.
