OSI is Awarded a Contract by Powerco of New Zealand for a Modern SCADA and Load Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a new contract by Powerco, of New Plymouth, New Zealand, for implementation of Powercos next-generation SCADA and Load Management systems.

Powerco is New Zealand's second largest electricity and gas distribution company with a service territory spreading across the upper central and lower central North Island, servicing approximately 400,000 consumers.

OSI's open and modern technology will assist Powerco in its goals of meeting new energy demands and maintaining high standards of delivery though cutting edge information and control systems.

OSI's monarch™ system will further Powerco's ability to control networks and contribute effectively to its technical and engineering mission. With reliability, innovation and customer service as shared characteristics, the monarch solution promises to be a major contributor in Powerco's pursuit of delivering a constant and reliable supply of electricity to its customers.

The proposed system is based on OSI's innovative monarch distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Historical Information System, Web-based Graphical User Interface, Calculation and Trending subsystem, Open Database Connectivity, Load Management functionality and a Backup Control Center, as well as DNP and ICCP communications. The architecture will be based on a VMware ESX server configuration.

"The Powerco project is of strategic importance to OSI and our first entry into the New Zealand market. Both companies share the same vision of quality customer service, environmental stewardship and sound business practices. We welcome Powerco to our user community and look forward to a very successful project," said Bahman Hoveida, President and CEO of OSI.
