Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities of New Mexico Awards OSI a New SCADA System Contract

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) for a new comprehensive SCADA system.

New Mexico's only four-service, community-owned utility, the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities is a not-for-profit entity that has proudly provided its community with electric, gas, water and wastewater services for more than 40 years.

The proposed new system is based on OSI's innovative monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) distributed open architecture, and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Advanced Graphical User Interface, Historical Information System, Calculation Subsystem, Trending and Network Topology Mapping, as well as Secure ICCP communications.

The high-performance, monarch platform not only will improve reliability and security of DPU operation meeting latest NERC CIP Cyber Security standards; it will also facilitate future upgrades of hardware and software, and will lower life cycle costs of ownership. OSI's monarch platform will replace the company's legacy SCADA system.

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (www.losalamosnm.us/utilities) operates the county-owned electric, gas, water and wastewater systems under the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Utilities. The DPU is funded by rates paid for electric, gas, water and wastewater services and auxiliary fees, and has provided the community with these services for more than 40 years.
