OSI to Upgrade Electrical Distribution Control System for Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur International Airport

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd. (MAHB) to upgrade the Electrical Power Supply (EPS) system for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), in Malaysia; emphasizing security, reliability, advanced functionality, interoperability and a shorter project schedule as reasons for choosing OSI.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is Malaysia's flagship airport; among the busiest in the world and winner of numerous international awards for service quality and environmental leadership. KLIA is operated by MAHB, a Malaysian airport company responsible for managing the majority of airports within Malaysia. This project represents OSI's international expansion into transportation and non power utility sector.

MAHB's new EPS control system is based on OSI's state-of-the-art monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform and will feature the advanced functionality of OSI's next-generation Microsoft .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI), Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) Advanced Alarm Management; Real-time and Historical Trending; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; and Distribution Network Management functionality.

"After extensive research and evaluation, MAHB determined that OSI's monarch platform is the best fitting solution for addressing our SCADA requirements, including operation, maintenance and cyber security enhancements. We are excited to deploy this to meet our current and future challenges at KLIA," said Mr. Rahmat Taib, MAHB Facilities Manager.

"This is a strategic project for OSI as we expand our international reach and bring our DMS and automation technology to the Transportation utility sector. We welcome KLIA to OSI's family of users and look forward to a successful project," said Bharath Kumar, OSI's Director of International Business Development.

Operating airports since 1998, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.
