OSI is Awarded a New SCADA and Generation Management System Contract by the Bahamas Electricity Corporation

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) to supply a new SCADA and Generation Management System.

BEC is a wholly government owned electric utility, responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the vast majority of the islands of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. BEC operates 29 generating plants in 25 island locations throughout the Bahamas archipelago, with approximately 96,000 customers and a total installed capacity of 438 MW.

This new system replaces an existing Siemens SCADA system and will be installed at the BEC Electric System Operations Control Center located in Nassau, on the island of New Providence. BEC joins OSI's growing user-base in the Caribbean. Islands which are users of OSI technology currently include Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Thomas and Trinidad and Tobago.
