OSI Announces Availability of its Cloud Based OT (Operations Technology) Solutions to Utilities Worldwide on AWS

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) announces the availability of its Cumulus™ cloud architecture serving SCADA, EMS, GMS, DMS and other Smart Grid solutions such as Demand Response, Renewables Management, Volt/Var Control and Asset Monitoring applications to utilities worldwide running on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This innovative approach to serving the utility marketplace will have a profound impact on the delivery of Smart Grid solutions. Cumulus on AWS enables utilities to subscribe to a service to deploy automation software on the cloud, offering countless benefits including the minimization of large upfront capital investments in hardware and human resources, providing enhanced system security, hyper system scalability and eliminating hardware obsolescence. AWS Cumulus solution can serve as a primary or secondary disaster recovery control system for Transmission, Distribution or Generation utilities and other asset owners. The Cumulus architecture is an ideal solution to handle monitoring and control of millions of emerging IoT devices including devices on the grid's edge.

"OSI and AWS have both been leading innovations in their respective fields. OSI's advanced monitoring and automation products have been at the forefront of the utility automation and smart grid projects," said Bahman Hoveida, President and CEO, OSI. "This is the wave of the future, whether a secure private cloud or a secure commercial cloud such as the arrangement with AWS, will allow utilities to deploy our solutions much faster and in a more effective fashion to support their automation needs while avoiding the need for large human resource and hardware infrastructures."
