OG&E Selects OSI Technology for Advanced Distribution Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by OG&E to supply the next generation of Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) based on OSI's state-of-the-art monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform.

OG&E has been one of the leading smart grid utilities in the country, successfully implementing innovative programs in Volt/VAR Optimization (VVO), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Dynamic Pricing. The new OSI ADMS would provide an integrated real-time solution that enables OG&E to implement the next generation of advanced smart grid capabilities.

OG&E's new OSI Advanced Distribution Management System includes advanced DA SCADA functionality, as well as Spatial/Geographical Information System interfaces and advanced distribution analysis and control applications such as: Volt/VAR Control and optimization, Conservation Voltage Reduction, Fault Location Isolation Service Restoration, Switching Order Management, Fault Protection Analysis, Feeder Reconfiguration, Distribution Power Flow and Distribution State Estimation, Distribution Operator Training Simulator. The new ADMS implementation at OG&E will be extended to provide integrated advanced outage management (OMS) capabilities in a subsequent phase based on OSI's Electra™ OMS technology.

The new ADMS is supported by OSI's CHRONUS™ historian capable of massive time series data collection and data mining.

"OG&E has been a long time user of OSI technology for transmission management and EMS," said Andrea Dennis, Director of System Operations at OG&E. "Our new ADMS would build on the same real-time platform we have been using to provide us advanced capabilities in an effective and streamlined way."

"OG&E has been a pioneer in implementing successful smart grid applications with tangible results," said Hormoz Kazemzadeh, VP of Distribution and Smart Grid at OSI. "We are proud to be OG&E's technology partner in providing a secure integrated solution for EMS, DMS, and OMS."
