Global Energy Group Adopts OSI's Generation Management System Technology

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has successfully completed the implementation of an advanced Generation Management System (GMS) utilizing OSI's monarch™ platform for a major North American retail electricity, natural gas and energy services provider. This new system monitors and controls the company's non-merchant power generation, replacing a legacy ABB GMS system.

The global energy group has nearly 15,000 MW of capacity in operation or under construction in the U.S., and is a major retail electricity provider to commercial and industrial customers in the United States.

This new SCADA/GMS will include the advanced functionality of OSI's next-generation, .NET-based Graphical User Interface (GUI), Advanced SCADA Functionality, Advanced Alarm Management System, Calculation & Scripting Subsystem, Real-time and Historical Trending, Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem, Historical Information System and Data Archiving, Inter-control Center Communications Protocol and Automatic Generation Control and Dispatch software products.

"We are pleased to have won the trust of this international energy group, and we welcome them to our expanding generation user base. With them added to our list of customers, we now have more than 95 percent of independent power generators in the USA as our customers," said Abed Halimah, Vice President of OSI Product Management.
