OSI EMS Technology Selected by European National Transmission System Operator in Slovakia

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) and their partner, Indra, have been selected by Slovenska elektrizacna prenosova sustava, a.s. (SEPS) to supply a state-of-the-art SCADA/EMS system that will effectively manage the transmission system for the entirety of the Slovak Republic. SEPS is the national transmission operator for the entire country and integrates Slovakia's transmission network with Europe's bulk transmission network.

This new OSI monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) system will replace SEPS's legacy Siemens system and will enable the company to manage the country's 110 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV grids; balance the system (generation matching consumption); and coordinate international interconnections with Europe's high-voltage network.

SEPS's monarch-based SCADA/EMS system will include OSI's advanced Graphical User Interface (GUI) and situational awareness; Advanced Alarm Management System; Advanced Transmission Network Analysis Applications; Dispatcher Training Simulator, Automatic Generation Control and Dispatch; Short-Term Load Forecasting; Market Operations Interfaces; Common Information Model Interface; Equipment Outage Scheduler; Automatic VAR Control; Transaction Management Scheduling; and Switching Order Management software.

"Our expectations for the new modern EMS system are very high," said Frantisek Pecho, executive director of section for the Slovak Electricity Transmission System, SEPS's automated dispatching control system. "Our operational requirements are demanding, and we expect that the new system will allow us to quickly adapt to changing regulations in the operational environment. As a Transmission System Operator of the Slovak Republic—one interconnected with neighboring European transmission networks—we are under pressure to comply with continuously changing legislation and meet the growing demand for operational safety and reliability. We trust OSI will deliver the technology we need and provide the support we desire for the successful implementation, operation and maintenance of the new SCADA/EMS system."

"OSI is excited to continue its expansion in the European market by welcoming SEPS to its family of worldwide users," said Sergio Bajetti, OSI's director. "We are looking forward to successfully contributing to the delivery of excellent electrical services in Slovakia. Our shared goal is to implement a truly revolutionary system, one with the most advanced user interface and transmission network applications on the market, to improve operational performance and make it a model of operational excellence in the European market. OSI welcomes the opportunity to serve SEPS, and we look forward to a very successful and on-time project implementation of this world-class control system."
