Puerto Rico's Electric Power Authority Selects OSI SCADA Technology

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) to supply a new SCADA system based on OSI's monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform.

PREPA produces, transmits and distributes nearly all electric power used in Puerto Rico and its two adjacent islands, Vieques and Culebra. The new OSI monarch system will be used to monitor and control the San Juan Generation Plant GIS switchyard—one of PREPA's largest.

PREPA's new SCADA system includes OSI's next-generation, .NET-based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Calculation and Scripting Subsystem; Real-time and Historical Trending; Disturbance Data Collection; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; Advanced Alarm Management System; Dynamic Tabular Display Subsystem; Tabular Builder; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Open Platform Communications; PI Archiver; OBDC and SNMP Interfaces; and OSI's Voyager™ Web Browser-Based View-Only GUI.

"OSI is very pleased and excited by PREPA's selection of our technology for their project. This is our second SCADA system at PREPA, and it represents another significant step as OSI expands its footprint in the Caribbean utility market. OSI welcomes the opportunity to serve PREPA again, and we look forward to a very successful and on-time project implementation," said Sergio Bajetti, OSI's director for Latin America.
