Lakeland Electric Selects OSI's Electra™ OMS for Advanced Outage Management

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by Lakeland Electric to supply a state-of-the-art Outage Management System (OMS) to replace their legacy OMS system. This project will integrate advanced OMS functionality with the company's existing OSI Energy Management System and Distribution Management System, and will interface with Lakeland's various enterprise systems.

OSI's Electra OMS is an advanced OMS platform based on Big Data and web technologies, and has been developed from the ground up as a modern OMS with flexibility and scalability to handle small to very large call centers for utilities with millions of customers.

Lakeland Electric is a full-service municipal utility servicing more than 120,000 customers in central Florida. The new Electra OMS provides Lakeland Electric with access to real-time outage information using a state-of-the-art, highly configurable web-based user interface for easy access to outage job summaries, available resources, and situational alarms.

Lakeland Electric's new OMS will run on the same distribution network model as their DMS and will include functionality for trouble call management, outage analysis, crew management, and outage reporting. It will also interface with Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Customer Information Systems (CIS), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Work Management Systems (WMS), and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).

"OMS is a critical system in our operations," said John McMurray, Assistant General Manager of Energy Delivery at Lakeland Electric. "OSI's integrated OMS provides our operators with a seamless environment in which to manage all aspects of Energy Delivery efficiently and allows us to better serve our customers."

"After successfully implementing SCADA/EMS and DMS at Lakeland Electric, we are happy to be adding our advanced OMS for a truly integrated operational system," said Hormoz Kazemzadeh, VP of Distribution and Smart Grids at OSI. "At OSI, we have a commitment to deliver advanced but practical solutions to our customers that produce real benefits, and Lakeland Electric is a showcase of that commitment."
