Central Electric Cooperative of Oklahoma Selects OSI Technology for New Distribution Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Central Electric Cooperative to supply a new Distribution Management System (DMS) based on OSI's monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform. This new system will replace their existing Schneider Electric ClearSCADA 2010 system.

Central Electric Cooperative's new DMS includes OSI's next-generation, .NET-based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Calculation and Scripting Subsystem; Real-time and Historical Trending; Disturbance Data Collection; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; Advanced Alarm Management System; Dynamic Tabular Display Subsystem; Tabular Builder; Communications Front-end Processor; Inter-control Center Communications Protocol; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; ODBC and SNMP Interfaces; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Distribution Network Management; Geographic Information Systems Interface; Distribution Topology Processing; Fault Location Isolation and System Restoration; Distribution Power Flow; Volt/VAR Control; MultiSpeak Interface; Voyager™, OSI's web-based and mobile user interface; and Terminus™, OSI's secure terminal server.

"We look forward to the implementation of the OSI SCADA system and integration of the Distribution Management System, along with features such as Fault Location Isolation and System Restoration. We believe this system will help us to achieve our goal of maintaining power quality and reliability, as well as providing the tools needed for safely switching power flow from our distribution grid and interconnected Progressive Resource Energy Park (PREP)," said David Freeman, Central Electric Cooperative's director of systems intelligence.

"Central Electric Cooperative is a next-generation utility dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and economical electric energy," said Hormoz Kazemzadeh, VP of Distribution and Smart Grid Business at OSI. "We are proud to be Central's partner in implementing advanced Distribution Management System applications that improve operational efficiency and enhance service reliability for its members."

Central Electric Cooperative (mycentral.coop) is a member-owned organization dedicated to providing safe, reliable and economical electric energy since 1938. Headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the not-for-profit electric cooperative serves more approximately 20,000 members.
