Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency Selects OSI Technology for New SCADA System and Market Interface Platform

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) was selected by Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) to supply a new SCADA system based on OSI's state-of-the-art monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) technology. The new OSI SCADA system will replace SMMPA's existing C3-Ilex system.

SMMPA's new OSI SCADA system features the advanced functionality presented by OSI's next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface; Calculation and Scripting Subsystem; Real-time and Historical Trending; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; Advanced Alarm Management System; Dynamic Tabular Display Subsystem; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; and Communications Front-End Processor software products, with market interfaces to the Midcontinent ISO (MISO).

"SMMPA's decision to select OSI for its new SCADA system platform complements the previous selection of the OSI system platform by three of SMMPA's largest utility members. With SMMPA and our members standardizing on the OSI system platform, there will be additional benefits in terms of disaster recovery, technical expertise and economies of support and maintenance," said Richard Hettwer, Manager of Power Delivery at SMMPA.
