Oklahoma Gas and Electric Selects OSI for New Outage Management System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) to supply a state-of-the-art Outage Management System (OMS). This project will integrate advanced OMS functionality with the utility's existing OSI Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

OSI's Electra™ OMS is a natively integrated component of OSI's ADMS solution. It uses big data and web technologies, and has been developed from the ground up to have the flexibility and scalability to handle utilities of all sizes—including large utilities with millions of customers. Features included in this new OMS include Call Management, Outage Analysis, Crew Work Management, and Outage Reporting and Communication, as well as interfaces with other OG&E enterprise systems such as a Customer Information System, Work Management System, Mobile Workforce Management System, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure.

"OSI has been our operation technology (OT) partner for over 20 years in transmission, and more recently, in distribution," said Andrea Dennis, Director of System Operations at OG&E. "The addition of OSI's OMS allows us to have a complete ADMS on one platform and will transform our operations to support a more advanced, efficient, and reliable grid."

"OG&E is well-known in the industry as a leading utility at the forefront of smart grid innovation," said Hormoz Kazemzadeh, Vice President of Distribution and Smart Grid at OSI. "We are proud to be their technology partner and enthusiastic about this opportunity to implement our full ADMS suite at OG&E, to include OSI's next-generation OMS."

Oklahoma Gas and Electric (www.oge.com), has been one of the leading smart grid utilities in the country, successfully implementing innovative programs in Volt/VAR Optimization (VVO), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Dynamic Pricing. As the oldest and largest electric utility in Oklahoma, OG&E serves approximately 828,000 customers across a 30,000-square mile service area in Oklahoma and western Arkansas. It is a subsidiary of OGE Energy Corp.
