Jemena Limited of Australia Selects OSI Technology for a Consolidated Enterprise Platform for Electric and Gas Operations

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Australia's Jemena Limited to implement a consolidated replacement of the company's end-of-life core systems, including SCADA, Distribution Management (DMS), Gas Management (GMS), and Outage Management (OMS) systems. Based on OSI's monarch™ operations technology platform, this new solution will ensure Jemena's gas, water, and electric customers are served by reliable, efficient, and effective operations systems well into the future.

Jemena owns and operates a diverse portfolio of electric, water, and gas assets throughout the east coast of Australia, including the metropolitan cities of Sydney and Melbourne, boasting more than nine billion dollars' worth of major utility infrastructure and serving millions of customers.

This new, uniform, enterprise-wide operations technology platform for electric, gas, and water networks features OSI's Real-time Monitoring and Control; Advanced Distribution Management (ADMS), Outage Management (OMS), and Gas Pipeline Management (PMS) functionality; and comprehensive training simulators for all environments. The delivery also includes OSI's next-generation historian (CHRONUS™), supported by Big Data technology for massive time series data collection and data mining. OSI technology will replace the company's legacy systems in operation today, including a GE GENe™ SCADA and Oracle NMS.

"OSI is extremely excited to partner with Jemena on this key transformational business project," said OSI President/CEO Bahman Hoveida. "We believe our progressive approach to providing a single, enterprise-wide operations technology platform will result in great operational and maintenance benefits for such a large utility as Jemena. We are pleased to have earned Jemena's trust, and we are looking forward to a very successful implementation of this important project and the further expansion of OSI's presence in Australia."

"Jemena is excited to have selected OSI as our SCADA, OMS, and DMS solutions provider of choice," said Perry Rogers, Jemena's SCADA and RTS manager. "We have recognised and look forward to the fit of the OSI monarch solution across our diverse portfolio of assets in a manner that supports our pursuit of growth, effectiveness and efficiency."
