Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia Selects an OSI Integrated SCADA/EMS/DMS Solution for Load Dispatch Center

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB) to supply an integrated SCADA/Energy Management System (EMS)/Distribution Management System (DMS)—based on OSI's state-of-the-art monarch™ operations technology (OT) platform—for use at the utility's load dispatch center. This will replace SESB's legacy Siemens Sinaut Spectrum™ system.

System features include OSI's next-generation .NET-based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Real-time and Historical Trending; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Load Shed and Restoration; Automatic Generation Control and Dispatch; Transmission Network Security Analysis and Situational Awareness; Dispatcher Training Simulator; OSI Enterprise Integration Platform via web services; CHRONUS™, OSI's next-generation historian supported by big data technology; and the full Spectra™ DMS suite, including Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR), Distribution Power Flow, and Volt/VAR control.

With the implementation of this system, Sabah Electricity joins a growing number of island-based utilities that make use of OSI's monarch platform and advanced applications to manage their power system in an evolving market environment. SESB will now be the most advanced user of SCADA/EMS/DMS technology of all island nations in the region.

"We appreciate SESB's partnership and their trust in OSI's single, integrated OT platform to enhance their operational efficiency and reliability," said Bharath Kumar, managing director of OSI's international operations.
