L&O Power Cooperative of Iowa Awards OSI a Contract for a SCADA Master Station

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has recently been awarded a contract by L&O Power Cooperative of Rock Rapids, Iowa to supply a replacement SCADA Master Station to control L&O's electrical system as well as providing SCADA services to three subcontracted utilities: Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Osceola Electric Cooperative, Inc. of Sibley, Iowa; and Sioux Valley Energy of Colman, South Dakota.

The system will be based on OSI's monarch™ distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Historical Archiving, Web-based User Interface and will utilize DNP communications. OSI's market presence as well as its open technology were been major decision factors for L&O. The system is scheduled to be implemented utilizing OSI's proven fast-track implementation program.

L&O (www.landopowercoop.com) is a Generation & Transmission cooperative formed in 1952 to bring wholesale electric power to the rural electric cooperatives in Lyon and Osceola Counties in northwest Iowa, and Rock and Pipestone counties in southwest Minnesota. L&O owns and operates approximately 200 miles of transmission line and 16 distribution substations distributing power supplied by Western Area Power Administration and Basin Electric Power Cooperative. L&O and its member cooperatives are non-profit and member-owned.
