Cedar Falls Utilities of Iowa Awards OSI a Contract for a Linux-Based SCADA Master Station for Electric, Gas and Water Operation

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) was awarded a contract by Cedar Falls Utilities of Iowa to supply a Linux-based SCADA Master Station to control and monitor its electric, gas, water and communication systems.

The system will be based on OSI's monarch™ distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, DNP communications over IP, Historical Archiving, Topology Processing, Calculation and Trending capabilities, and will be based on the Linux operating system. The system includes specialized gas applications for monitoring critical low-pressure conditions. The redundant system will be installed at geographically separated operations centers to provide for seamless changeover for disaster recovery.

The system is scheduled to be delivered in December 2004 and put in full service by March 2005 based on a fast track implementation strategy.
