Public Service Electric and Gas of New Jersey Adopts OSI Platform for Its System Wide Distribution Management Operation

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI), an industry leader providing open and high-performance automation solutions to electric utilities worldwide, has recently been awarded a contract to supply a new SCADA and Distribution Management System (DMS) to Public Service Electric & Gas of New Jersey (PSE&G) (www.pseg.com) for its Metropolitan Division operations center, with additional options for delivery of systems for other PSE&G operation centers including the Palisades, Central, Moorestown, and Trenton operations centers.

The proposed system is based on OSI's monarch™ distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, ICCP and DNP data communications, Historical Information Management applications as well as interfaces to Outage Management, and various other enterprise systems. The proposed system will be monitoring and controlling more than 1,800 Remote Terminal Units across the PSE&G service territory using legacy and DNP communications.

The system is based on the Windows® 2000 operating system and the Oracle® database management system. The first system for the Metropolitan Division is expected to be delivered nine (9) months after contract award.
