Intergraph Utilities & Communications and Open Systems International, Inc. Form a Business Partnership to Bring Integrated GIS and Distribution Management Systems to Utilities In Asia Pacific

Intergraph Utilities & Communications (Intergraph) and Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) announced that they have formed a business partnership and alliance for marketing integrated GIS, SCADA and Distribution Management Systems for the electric utility market in Australia, New Zealand and the rest of Asia Pacific. Bringing together Intergraph's geospatial information technology and OSI's real-time information infrastructure and specific distribution management applications, provides for a seamless and comprehensive Information Platform for electric utility distributors.

Intergraph, with its new G/Electric suite, is the first vendor to offer 5th generation GIS technology. G/Electric is purpose built for electric utilities facing the challenges of asset management in a deregulated and dynamic market. The underlying technology supports high performance real-time GIS capabilities and is massively scalable. The architecture embraces XML and offers extensibility from enterprise spatial warehouse to thin mobile clients. According to Intergraph executive Vice-President Graeme Farrell, "Our technology is built to meet the demands of the deregulated utilities." Alongside standard features, G/Electric also supports co-location management, seamless integration of secondary data and provides comprehensive options for long-term spatial transactions. "Utilities are not only facing corporate unbundling and mergers and acquisitions, they are also facing increased their outsourcing activities. Compounding this is the requirement to build on their asset management, asset operation and asset servicing activities. Modular and flexible technology is needed by the utilities. Intergraph is the only major vendor in this GIS business space to have totally rearchitected their total solution since the advent of the Internet. We share this philosophy with OSI and are excited by the potential of this partnership," added Graeme Farrell.

"We are very excited about our partnership with Intergraph. This relationship provides both companies with an integrated and comprehensive GIS and Distribution Management System solution for electric utilities. The prospect of integrating Intergraph's geo-spatial technology and our monarch™ real-time platform will greatly benefit utility operations in need of a practical and feasible GIS and DMS solution. We hope that this partnership model and success will lead to further global cooperation between our companies," said Bahman Hoveida, President and CEO of OSI.
