OSI Celebrates its 10-year Anniversary and a Decade of Strong Growth and Market Leadership

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI), an industry leader providing open and high-performance automation solutions to electric utilities worldwide, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in June of 2002.

OSI was founded in June of 1992 to fulfill a vision of open systems-based products for the Electric Utility marketplace. Since then, OSI has continually challenged the marketplace with innovative open solutions and has built a strong customer base during its first 10 years of existence.

Unique achievements of OSI in the last decade include:

  • The first supplier to offer a comprehensive multi-platform automation system (SCADA) for four different Unix operating systems and hardware platforms.
  • The first supplier to embrace Microsoft Windows® as a credible platform for Utility Automation, offering its monarch™ SCADA and EMS software on Windows® platform, nearly five years ahead of the competition.
  • The first supplier to embrace the Linux® operating system as an open sourced platform of the future and is offering OSI's monarch platform for Linux®.
  • The first supplier to introduce a "Product" approach to system implementation, resulting in substantial cost savings as well as reduced implementation and delivery times for its customers.

"We are proud of what we have achieved for our customers and our employees over the past 10 years. We are now considered a permanent fixture of the utility systems landscape and have succeeded where many of our competitors have failed. The future is even brighter for our employees and our customers alike, as the uncertainties of the tumultuous Electric utility and Energy sector will bring new challenges and opportunities," said Bahman Hoveida, OSI President and CEO.

OSI remains a privately-held, growing company which has been profitable every year since its founding.
