Central Electric Power Cooperative and Boone Electric of Missouri Select OSI Technology for New Transmission and Distribution Management Systems

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been selected by Central Electric Power Cooperative (CEPC) and Boone Electric, a member of CEPC, to supply a state-of-the-art new Transmission SCADA and Distribution Management systems (DMS) based on OSI's monarch™ platform.

CEPC is a generation and transmission cooperative that serves power to its eight member cooperatives in Missouri, including Boone Electric Cooperative. CEPC has selected OSI to provide a new Transmission SCADA system and an advanced Distribution Management System (DMS) which will enable CEPC to remotely host SCADA for seven members and DMS for two members. OSI will also provide an on premise SCADA system to Boone Electric. The system architecture of the OSI solution will empower CEPC to provide distribution management services tailored to the needs of its members including hosted or on premise SCADA/DMS.

These new systems are set to include the advanced functionality presented by OSI's next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Remote Console GUI; Web-based GUI; Dynamic Tabular Display Subsystem; Advanced Alarm Management System; Real-time and Historical Trending; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Inter-control Center Communications Protocol; Calculation & Scripting Subsystem software products, with interfaces to ODBC and MultiSpeak®.

The advanced DMS functionality provided by the OSI solution includes Graphical Information System Interface to multiple member systems; Electronic Map of Distribution Network; Distribution Topology Processing; Distribution Power Flow; Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration; Feeder Reconfiguration; and Switch Order Management.
