New Transmission Management System based on OSI Technology goes live at PacifiCorp

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has successfully completed the implementation of a large-scale new multi-site Transmission Management System (TMS) comprised of SCADA, Energy Management and Generation Management functionality with control centers in Portland, Oregon and Salt Lake City, Utah.

A subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, PacifiCorp is one of the West's leading utilities, serving nearly 1.8 million customers across 136,000 square-miles in six Western states with more than 16,200 miles of transmission lines and 62,930 miles of distribution lines.

The objective of this project was to replace PacifiCorp's legacy SCADA/EMS system with a state-of-the-art new modern system based on OSI's monarch™ platform, capable of maintaining and improving PacifiCorp's excellent operational performance.

The new technology provided by OSI will enhance overall system performance, availability and security, while providing advanced Situational Awareness tools for the operators.

PacifiCorp's new multi-site OSI platform includes the advanced functionality presented by OSI's next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Advanced SCADA Functionality; Transmission Security Analysis and Optimization; and Voltage Stability Analysis software. The system has replaced a legacy ABB RANGER SCADA/EMS system, implemented over 10 years ago.

"OSI is pleased to have won the trust of a major utility such as PacifiCorp in adopting our advanced technology and we welcome them into our ever-expanding user family. With this successful project implementation, we look forward to a long partnership with PacifiCorp to serve their strategic control system needs." Bahman Hoveida, OSI President and CEO

"PacifiCorp and OSI worked together to overcome obstacles and to ensure the implementation met the unique requirements of a large multi-state utility. The incredible partnership and teamwork demonstrated on this project were the keys to the successful delivery." Cord Schreiner, PacifiCorp Director of System Operations
