Ohio's Licking Rural Electrification Selects OSI Technology for New Distribution SCADA System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Licking Rural Electrification (LRE) to supply a new SCADA system based on OSI's monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform. This distribution operations platform has been designed to scale up with the company's future expansion and growth, and is capable of supporting additional Advanced Distribution Management System functionality.

LRE's new SCADA system features the following functionality: OSI's advanced Graphical User Interface (GUI), Remote User Interface, Real-time and Historical Trending and Analytics, Advanced Alarm Management System, Communications Front-end Processor, Historical Information System and Data Archiving, Switch Order Management, GIS Interface, Distribution Mapping and Topology Processing, Web-based and Mobile User Interface, and a comprehensive Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem.

Licking Rural Electrification (www.theenergycoop.com) is a cooperative that distributes electricity to over 25,000 consumers in nine counties in central Ohio. LRE owns, operates, and maintains 32 miles of transmission line, 3,072 miles of distribution lines, and 23 substations, three of which are transmission stations. In 1998, LRE acquired National Gas & Oil Company and its subsidiaries, National Gas & Oil Corp., Producers Gas Sales, NGO Development Corp., NGO Transmission, Inc., and NGO Propane. The Energy Cooperative is the trade name used by LRE and its subsidiaries, which operate as separate corporations.
