Ohio's NGO Transmission Adopts OSI Technology for a New Gas SCADA System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by NGO Transmission (NGOT)—a subsidiary of The Energy Cooperative (www.theenergycoop.com)—to supply a new SCADA system based on OSI's monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform. This new system, designed to control NGOT's natural gas transmission network, will replace the company's legacy GE system.

NGOT's new SCADA system includes the following components: OSI's next-generation, .NET-based Graphical User Interface (GUI); Communications Front-end Processor; Real-time and Historical Trending; Advanced Alarm Management System; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; and Voyager™, OSI's Remote/Mobile Browser-based User Interface.

The Energy Cooperative's NGO Transmission provides natural gas service to both affiliates and non-affiliates through a network of 171 miles of transmission pipelines and three underground gas storage fields. These gas storage fields help balance the transmission system and can provide up to half of the daily supply needs. The primary goal of NGO Transmission is to provide firm gas delivery service to the consumers of National Gas & Oil Cooperative and Producers Gas Sales.
