Argentina's TRANSPA S.A. Selects OSI Technology for a New SCADA System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Empresa de Transporte de Energía Eléctrica por Distribución Troncal de la Patagonia S.A. (TRANSPA) to supply a SCADA system based on OSI's monarch™ real-time automation and visualization platform. This new system will replace the utility's legacy Telvent OASyS platform and will unify TRANSPA's two control centers in a virtualized environment.

An Argentine power transmission firm, TRANSPA operates more than 2,500 kilometers of high-voltage (330kV, 220kV and 132Kv) transmission lines throughout the Argentine Patagonia, with a total transformation capacity of over 1,800 MVA.

The new OSI system will include the following functionality: OSI's advanced Graphical User Interface; Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition; Communications Front-end Processor; Real-time and Historical Trending; Advanced Alarm Management System; Data Engineering and Maintenance Subsystem; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; Network Topology Processor; Voyager™, OSI's Remote/Mobile Browser-based User Interface; and ODBC and SNMP interfaces.

"We are honored to have TRANSPA join our large family of transmission users, and in particular our Argentine user family. This contract represents another significant step in OSI's expansion in Latin America and we look forward to a very successful and on-time project implementation of this world-class control system," said Sergio Bajetti, OSI's director for Latin America.

"TRANSPA, as part of a policy of continuous improvement, will renew their SCADA system to ensure quality in the public electric power transport service. This comprehensive solution is comprised of the best available technology and relies on world-class suppliers," said Aníbal Lorenzelli, CFO of TRANSPA.
