OSI Appoints New Vice President of Oil & Gas and Pipelines Business Unit

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) is pleased to announce that Farshid Shams has joined OSI's executive team as the new vice president of the company's Oil & Gas and Pipelines business unit. Shams recently served as the vice president of Oil & Gas, North America for Schneider Electric. In his new role at OSI, he will oversee the company's operations in the global oil & gas market, and will participate in strategic planning as a key member of the corporate executive team.

Shams has a mechanical engineering degree and has also earned his MBA at HEC Paris, Europe's top-rated business school. He has worked in various positions for TOTAL, the French oil & gas conglomerate, on large LNG and gas exploration projects. Shams then joined Schneider Electric in Paris as the regional business director of oil & gas, where he oversaw the development of the company's oil & gas business in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He was later promoted to vice president of Oil & Gas, North America, based in Houston, Texas.

"OSI's strategic growth in the next 10 years includes expansion of our solution delivery in adjacent markets and industries. We see tremendous potential in, and demand from, pipeline utilities, especially gas distribution and transmission companies. They seek electric industry-grade automation solutions with a different pedigree in terms of flexibility, scalability, and cyber security characteristics. Many joint operators of electric and gas are also looking for a common enterprise solution to meet their wire and pipeline management requirements. We are excited about Farshid joining our company and leading our expansion efforts in this important sector," said OSI President and CEO Bahman Hoveida.
