OSI Announces Launch of Advanced Operations Mobility Platform, OSI Compass™

At their annual user conference, OpenForum™, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) unveiled their newest product offering: OSI Compass™, a groundbreaking new operations mobility platform that integrates seamlessly with OSI's advanced operations technology (OT) tools for distribution and/or transmission operations.

Incorporating the latest in web and mobile technology, OSI Compass enables utilities to efficiently and effectively assign work to field technicians, improving safety, communication, documentation, and productivity. Field crews can access real-time network, asset, and outage information using an intuitive interface on mobile and hand-held devices that includes highly configurable map displays, substation one-lines, and real-time tabular displays. They can then deliver real-time status updates and metric reporting from the field to control centers using a variety of handheld or truck-mount devices, including Android-, Apple-, or Microsoft-powered phones, tablets, or field notebooks. This new technology will transform field operations and provide a comprehensive end-to-end integrated solution for utilities, replacing the disjointed and non-native field solutions that may be in practice today.

"Any utility company looking to prepare their field crews for the next big outage event or improve operational efficiencies should be considering OSI Compass as an enabling technology," said Sally Jacquemin, senior director of OSI's Distribution & Smart Grid business unit. "It extends the power and scalability of our monarch™ platform to field crews and mutual-assistance crews, securely providing the necessary real-time network awareness and work order management to maintain and restore service as quickly, safely, and efficiently as possible."
