OSI is Awarded a Contract by Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority for a New SCADA System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a contract by Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) of Edmond, Oklahoma, for a new comprehensive SCADA system.

OMPA provides adequate, reliable and affordable supply of electrical power and energy to Oklahoma's municipally owned electric systems, currently serving 35 municipals in Oklahoma and supplying partial requirements for four cities in Kansas. OMPA's main motivation for this project has been the implementation of a more modern control system based on an open architecture, facilitating future upgrades of hardware and software as well as a lower recurring maintenance cost. OSI's state-of-the-art monarch™ system will replace the company's aging QEI SCADA system.

The proposed system is based on OSI's monarch distributed open architecture and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Web-based Graphical User Interface, Load Forecasting, Historical Information System, Calculation and Trending subsystem, Load Shed Restoration, Energy Accounting, Secure ICCP, DNP and Modbus communications, as well as interfaces with the Southwest Power Pool (SPP). OSI will also deliver a number of OSI's OSIRIS™ Linux-based secure Remote Terminal Units (RTU) as part of the project.

The project will be implemented based on OSI's Rapid Project Methodology (RPM) and is scheduled for completion within four (4) months of contract signing. Optionally, in a later phase, Energy Management System applications including Market Operations System and other control area applications may be added to the present system.
