OSI Launches a Competitive Upgrade Program for North American SCADA and EMS Systems

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has launched a new Competitive Upgrade program specifically designed as a viable and more cost effective alternative for companies that are considering SCADA and EMS revision upgrades with their current suppliers.

Many utilities currently struggle with keeping their aging SCADA and EMS technologies up to date and in compliance with regulatory and operational requirements. These systems are commonly plagued by technical deficiencies, long upgrade delivery times as well as high maintenance and upgrade costs. These challenges have been intensified by the current economic downturn as well as the challenging regulatory requirements related to reliability and NERC CIP standards. In response to these challenges, OSI is offering its new Competitive Upgrade program to provide utilities a more viable option to meet their critical system needs.

"This upgrade program has been designed to preserve the investments that customers have made in their existing technology, including databases, displays and reports through their automatic and seamless conversion and migration to OSI technology. We have successfully demonstrated upgrades to our monarch™ platform from competitors systems in record time using our Rapid Implementation Strategy," said Edwin Stephenson, OSI's Director of Project Delivery.

OSI's monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture), in addition to state-of-the-art SCADA functionality, supports a full complement of Energy Management, Network Management, Distribution Management and Generation Management applications. These products are all designed for and utilized by customers that range from large investor-owned utilities to midsized cooperatives and municipalities. The monarch platform is designed and developed exclusively in the United States by OSI and is one of the few remaining American made platforms in the field of utility automation. Once migrated to the monarch platform, ongoing annual upgrades, support, maintenance, regulatory compliance and audits are all greatly simplified through OSI's cost effective and world-class support and services programs.

OSI's Competitive Upgrade program is currently valid for North American utilities and includes all major system brands prevalent in North America.
