Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI) has been awarded a new contract by East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) to replace and upgrade its legacy SCADA/EMS system with OSI's monarch™ (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) technology.
Headquartered in Winchester, KY (near Lexington, KY), EKPC is a not-for-profit, generation and transmission utility, providing wholesale energy services to its 16 member distribution cooperatives, through power plants, peaking units, hydro power and across more than 2,900 miles of transmission lines.
In an effort to upgrade and modernize their expansive membership cooperatives' generation and transmission infrastructure, EKPC has elected to replace their existing SCADA/EMS system, with OSI's industry-leading monarch platform. The new SCADA/EMS system will be based on OSI's next-generation Microsoft .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI) and will include several of OSI's advanced application products for transmission and generation control.
