New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission Chooses OSI's monarch lite™ platform for a New SCADA System

Open Systems International, Inc. (OSI), an industry leader providing open and high-performance automation solutions to electric utilities worldwide, has recently been awarded a contract to supply a full-featured Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to the City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

OSI will be delivering a fast track monarch lite™ SCADA platform to replace their existing legacy SCADA system. The system is comprised of redundant Windows® 2000 SCADA servers, redundant Microsoft SQL Server historians, a number of Windows® 2000 consoles, and a projection system. The SCADA system supports DNP and legacy RTU protocols over dedicated leased lines, radio, and an IP-based network. The project is based on a fast track delivery schedule of 60 days.

The City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida Utilities Commission, (www.ucnsb.net), serves approximately 20,655 electric customers within a service area of 71.9 square miles, of which 19 square miles are inside the New Smyrna Beach city limits. The Utilities Commission has three generating sites and owns and maintains approximately 231 miles of overhead and 33 miles of underground electric circuits.
